Envelope Album for My Hubby

I made this album last month for my husband. I used 5 kraft envelopes for this project. We live in rural community and don't go to the bigger centres for shopping very often. So my children and I picked out gift cards for some of his favourite places to shop and eat at. I think that I will be making many more of these and perhaps doing a class as well.

Birthday Boy Card

Here is a card that I started a short time ago and finished up yesterday for a birthday party that my 6 year old son was attending. I really love the simplicity of it. I was going to emboss the "Happy Birthday!" but the power was out because someone hit the pole yesterday and BC Hydro had to replace it. Instead I used Pacific Point ink since it is so bright and can stand out without the embossing.

Colour Inspiration

Today, with the help of my friend Michelle, I tried to create a card that was inspired by a colour combination that I found on the blog, Moxie Fab World (http://www.moxiefabworld.com/). I go to the blog regularly but have never been inspired until recently. I absolutely love the colour combination of the shoe and the pom pom. I selected the papers and stamp sets to be used and Michelle and I created this together. Thank you very much Michelle. Michelle was out of her comfort zone since she is not a fan of purple and the green is too close to old olive which she also does not like. Recipe for the card:

Stamps - Delicate Doilies, You're a Gem

Papers - Whisper White, Lucky Limeade, and Concord Crush

Inks - Versa Mark, Lucky Limeade, and Concord Crush

Other - white and clear embossing powders, rhinestones

The card looks really good in person. The lucky limeade doilies are clear embossed and the sentiment is popped up with dimensionals. What don't you try to challenge yourself with this combination as well.

Barbeque and Apron Card

Hello Everyone,

I cannot believe that it has been so long since I posted last. I have been extremely busy and stressed. Let's just say that my plate was overflowing so much that I was carrying 2 plates. I was working a lot but now it will all end very soon. I am looking forward to getting in my stamp room more often and posting regularly. I am going to post a lot of projects in the next day or two for my stamping club ladies. They like to see the projects that we will be making ahead of time. I am going to highlighting masculine cards and 3D projects.

First up is the barbeque and apron card. The card can fit inside of the barbeque. Also, a gift card can fit inside as well.

Candy Box Card

Just a quick post today as I seem to be getting sick. My throat has started to get sore so I am off to bed shortly. I decided to make a special card that houses a treat and a greeting. I was trying to use my new goodies from the Occasions Mini (button and pompom trim). I also used a new stamp set to put the greeting "Happy Birthday" inside. The treat is a favourite candy of mine, Lindor chocolates. I love, love them. Well that is it for now. Happy stamping, ~danita~

Never Ending Card

This card has 4 layouts that continues to open until you come back to the beginning. It is really something to see in action. I really like cards that move. Don't you? Of course, you might have to send the receipt instructions with this card as well. The finished card measures 6 x 6. Well, I am off to finish up another creation and will post it tomorrow.

Card Maker's Rights

I don't have a project to post but I found this on another blog and wanted to share it with you.

As a cardmaker, you are entitled (but not limited) to the following rights:

You have the right to take as long as you want to complete one handmade card. This may be five minutes or two weeks.
You have the right to send a card for not other reason than to show off your new stamp, embellishment or technique.
You have the right to create fabulous card for your husband, partner or roommate-just because you know it will stay in your house
You have the right to spread your card making things out all over, just to admire them.
You have the right to purchase a certain cardmaking item for no other reason than because a) you like it; b) you think it's cute; c) you'll never find it again or; d) you know you'll use it someday.
You have the right to reserve using your most precious supplies on cards only for recipients who will truly appreciate them.

Fabric Anyone?

This is another first for me.....fabric on a card. And of course, I used one of the more difficult die cut (snowflake) that one could use. Be advised. Do not try this at home unless you have the support of your papercrafting friends. I got really excited about this that I took the entire adhesive backing off and of course all the branches of the snowflake stuck together. Next time, I would remove adhere one branch at a time. Despite all of the stickiness, I really like it. There was no stamping done at all on this card and the Big Shot was so easy to use for this project. Now, I want to make a rag purse or a little girl's apron with this material. Happy stamping, ~danita~

Stencilled Christmas Card

This is my first ever stencilled card. I used the Vintage Ornaments I from the Definitely Decorative catalogue. I have had this set for almost a year but I had never played with it. I did a few fun things on this card besides the stencilling. I ran the brushed silver through the big shot using the polka dot embossing folder. What else? Faux stitching (still a work in progress), daubered platinum paint, and using a border punch that I seldom used. Hmmm looks like there is something common amongst all of these things............................start using what I have and just get crafting. Happy stamping, ~danita~

Happy Thanksgiving!

We were invited for a potluck dinner this year for Thanksgiving. You would think that hosting a potluck dinner might be easier than cooking the whole thing yourself, it is actually just as much work. In light of this, I decided to make the hosting family a little gift. I made the candle box and stamped 3 votive candles to go in it. I gave the family the candles stamped with leaves. I was playing with my Cherry Cobbler paper again so I also made a Christmas themed candle set as well.

Since it was a potluck dinner, we brought this delicious Reese's Pieces Cheescake and 2 pumpkin pies. I made this cheesecake using my friend's recipe. Love it! I am so thankful that there was a little left over to put in my freezer. My husband and our children made the pumpkin pies including the pastry from scratch. My husband makes the most amazing crust.

I am thankful for the family and friends that have nearby but I dearly miss those who live far away. You know who you are.

Cherry Cobbler Christmas Cards!

For these two cards, I used dazzling diamonds and pear pizzaz on one card and 1/2 inch circle of patterned paper on the other.

An anique brad and an old olive button on these cards.

On the last two cards I used a glass pebbles and a build a brad. For the cards I used the Holly Jolly DSP, cherry cobbler cardstock, old olive cardstock, old olive satin ribbon, cherry cobbler ink, Word Play stamp set, old olive striped ribbon, very vanilla 5/8 inch grosgrain ribbon, linen thread, 1 3/4 circle punch and the 2 3/8 scallop punch.

What is so great about these cards is that you could make 108 cards using one pack of patterned paper but one roll of satin ribbon will make only 90 cards.

Friends Are Flowers That Never Fade

I know that at first this project looks very plain but I was tight on time and my creative juices were quickly drying up as I worked into the wee hours. I had actually started to make this project a few years ago but never completed it. My daughter's best friend is moving away this weekend so I wanted to make something that will help them stay connected. Although her friend is only moving 2.5 hours away, it is very far for an 8 year old girl.

So...I made this stationary box that has an address book for all the friends that she will write to. Of course my dear daughter's name is on the first page. I put it in there since we do not have her address yet but maybe I should ask her mom tomorrow for it. Would it not be so exciting to receive mail at your new house the first week that you are there?

Here is the address book with the Friends Never Fade stamp set. Love this set. There is a little pocket for stamps as well. I did not put a pen in as I was out of time and energy.

Inside the pockets are 4 standard sized cards with envelopes and 4 - 3 x 3 cards that she can colour. I also included a gift card that my daughter's friend can use to buy whatever her heart desires and her mom approves of.

At this moment, I feel very sad for these two little girls since they seem to be a perfect match for each other. Her friend has so many wonderful qualities and I really hope this friendship never fades.

Treats Trio

Oh....what could be inside this lovely box?

Mmmmm...it is 6 delicous devils-food mini cupcakes.

If 6 mini cupcakes are too many for you, then how about 4?

What if you do not like cupcakes? Oh do not say it is so. Well, how about a snickerdoodle cookie in a pretty package?

I absolutely loved completing this project. For those of you who know me personally, my projects usually have a purpose or person in mind. I could not possibly make these packages without putting something in them. My family throughly enjoyed the project as much as I did {insert smile here}.

I am always looking for ideas to package home baking or other homemade items to give as gifts. There is nothing quite like pretty packaging to get your eyes and tummy ready for what is inside. I hope you enjoyed this post as much as I enjoyed producing it. Would you like to see more ideas like this on my blog? Let me know what you think by leaving a comment.

Vintage Wedding Card

I am calling this a vintage card because a number of the products that I used were classified as part of the vintage suite in the new Stampin' Up catalogue. I must admit that I do not gravitate to this style. I made this card for my husband's friend and his bride.

I also was trying my hand at making a Joy-Fold Card. I think that I like it and will make more of them.

Pony Party Present

Thank you Tania for your comment about getting back to stamping and creating as a form of therapy. It felt so good to complete a project despite the fact that my stamp room is in CHAOS (Cannot Have Anyone Over Syndrome) and my personal life has been a little busy as well. My plate is definitely over flowing and it looks like I will have to make a few decisions soon about that.

Anyway........back to the project. I made this little portfolio for a 5 year old girl's birthday present. I used the stamp set called Pony Party for the card, portfolio front and for the 3 x 3 cards included in the portfolio. Her mom said that she would like something crafty. Although she does not get to stamp, she gets to colour each one of the cards and give them away to friends. Also, I had to add a little bling with rhinestones and chunky glitter. I love using the chunky glitter on the sticky cuts. It seems to work the best on the sticky cuts.

Well, my break is over so I am back to cleaning up my stamp room.

Gift Card Case

I cased (copy and steal everything) this card from the new Stampin' Up Idea Book & Catalogue (page 111). I used the stamp set Pocket Silhouettes and a new punch from the Punch Pack found in the Summer Mini. Rhinestones were put in the middle of the flowers.

I apologize for not posting in a long time. I had lost my mojo in the mist of personal issues, starting a new job, decluttering my house (ongoing) and being a full time wife and mother.

Now, I have realized that I need to keep on creating in order to balance my life better. I need to make time for myself and to finish a project each time that I create. Keep following me to see the many ideas that have been in my head but I have not taken the time to create.

Fun Gift Card Holder and Yummy Paper

I never seem to use the same design of gift holder twice but I am really loving this design. There are 3 teachers retiring from our school this year so our PAC has decided to give the teachers gift cards to a local business. I cannot deny that I love bold colours so this patterned paper called Island Oasis, was a must have. I live it so much that I want to hoard it but I am trying not to do that anymore. My new philosphy is to use what I love to create beautiful projects until I tire of the paper.

The tempting turquoise rectangle on the back panel can be used to put a picture. I am going to try to create a masculine now for Father's Day and birthdays. Masculine cards are challenge for me but I must get one done. I will try to post that one soon.

Father's Day Tin and Treats

Here is a very quick and simple project that I made the other day. It can be a Father's Day gift or a man's birthday gift. I am not very fond of the patterned paper (Manchester) so it was really difficult to love this project. The tin is a DVD tin that I purchased awhile ago from a business in Vancouver. I wrapped 16 Riesen candies in the same patterned paper. Instead of putting candies inside, you could use clear envelopes to make a mini scrapbook for dad. Teacher Gift

My son's preschool teacher has gone away this weekend to attend a teacher's conference in Vancouver. I hope that she comes away full of inspiratin and ideas. Most of all, I hope that she is recharged. Anyway, I wanted to give her a little something to take with her to jot down new ideas. I made a notebook using a file folder that I had on hand. Her name is Natalie so I a sticky cut "n" and just added glitter. Love the sticky cuts and glitter because it is so easy to make a WOW project. Inside the folder, I placed bookmarks (large clips), post it notes, pen and a pad of lined paper. I also put Serious Coffee gift card in it as well. So......Natalie, absorb all that you can and enjoy yourself while doing it.

Flower Pot Card

Here is my last flower project which is a flower pot card. They are so easy to make and do not require any adhesives to keep the pot together. I was feeling lazy and did not want to stamp then watercolour in the flowers so I embossed the flowers instead. I really love how the flowers turned out. Wouldn't this make a great card for mother's day or for a gardener.

Two Cards and a Tea Tin

I am sorry that I have not posted for awhile. Our school district has been going through school closure and last night was the decision which I will not go into right now.

Pipe Cleaner Flowers

I recently saw a tutorial online on how to make flowers out of pipe cleaners. I found it on card a la carte's site. This type of project appeals to me since I like to maximize the use of any of my craft supplies. However, I have to admit that I did not have pipe cleaners on hand so I had to search my small, rural town to find just the right colours. I found a pack of pink and then an assorted pack with white. Pop up glue dots are used to stick it all together but I would suggest using a hot glue gun. I had to keep on reheating the glue dot with a heat gun so that the pipe cleaners would stay put. A Handmade Birthday Gift

When my friend, Michelle, came over yesterday, she came bearing gifts. Cookies and the best one of all, this stamped picture. I absolutely love this gift and unfortunately the picture that I took does not do it justice. Doesn't Michelle do excellent artwork? She used the stamp set, "Season of Friendship" and stamped all four seasons. I really like the bike tire on the summer one. The frame also matches perfectly with my Ikea Expedit units in my stamp room. Now, I need to get my dear hubby to hang this picture. I also took pictures of the individual seasons which I will post in a separate post.

Cookies!!!! Yum, Yum, Yum!!!

My friend, Michelle, came over yesterday for a little stamping. She brought the cookies over for these cute cookie monster cards. I used the sweet treat cups to hold the cookies in place. With Michelle's help, we created a trap door in the back so the card will not be destroyed when the cookie comes out. I made 3 of these, one to keep, one to give away and one for Michelle.

Girl's Birthday Present

This is a creative writing journal that I made for my daughter to give to the birthday girl. Faith has an older sister so I thought that it was a must to have her name on the journal and her beaded pen. I know this because I have a sister as well. Faith's favourite colour is blue and more specifically a sky blue. I used retired designer series paper and soft sky cardstock. I also used my sticky cut letters with the fine glitter. The glitter goes a long way which I am thankful because I love this colour. I am not usually a glitter girl but I love using the sticky cuts with glitter because it is so easy and the glitter stays put. The only thing that I would improve on this project is the small lettering of the rest of Faith's name. My daughter was so proud to give this gift and it was one of Faith's favourite gifts. Faith came up to ask me later how I made it and told me that the blue was the colour of her bedroom. I am always so pleased when a handmade gift is so appreciated. Happy Stamping, ~ danita~

I cased this card from Andrea Walford except of using chipboard for the number, I used my sticky letters and the chunky pink glitter. I am not sure that I want to give it away but I am sure that any eight year old girl would love to receive this card. Boy's Birthday Card

My friend, Sheila, came over yesterday to help me with sorting and pricing out my children's baby clothes in anticipation of a parent swap meet next Saturday that I am participating in. She also had a birthday party to attend later that day and had not made the cards. Her son was invited to a birthday party for twins (a boy and a girl) so I gave her this idea and she made two of each. I have wanted to make this card but did not have the time lately. This card is cased from the Artistic Avenger, Carrie. I just found her site the other day. I have been in a rut lately so when that happens, I look to other crafters for ideas. I really love this card and I am not sure whether I want to give it away. On another note, I have not been posting recipes for my projects and I was wondering if you would like me to. I must apologize for not posting for such a long time. I had an absolutely crazy busy January. Things are finally settling down if that is what you call it. Having a young children does keep you busy between illnesses and other unwanted bugs. Anyway, I thought that I would post a couple of swap cards that I received last summer. The cards feel so warm and reflective. The crushed curry card was made by Lisa-Marie Gray and the butterfly one was created by Pam Duguay. Great cards.

Calendar Pages

For Christmas 2009, I made these coaster calendars. I used 13 square (4 x 4) coasters and covered each side with patterned paper. On one side is the calendar page and on the other is a picture of my kids. I won't be showing the other side since I do not post pictures of my kids. So the calendar sits on a desk and makes a triangular shape (KWIM). I always try to make calendars for the grandparents so they can have pictures of their grandchildren that they look at everyday of the year. However, I must caution you about this project......it took forever to do. I would suggest starting really early in the year. I thought that I was doing well by starting in November but that was not the case. I am already thinking about Christmas 2010's calendar already and I plan on starting very soon.

Well, I am off to organize and purge in my stamp room.

New Bird Punch

I am not sure whether you have seen but Stampin' Up has come out with some new punches in the Occasions Mini Catalogue. I am very practical about the stamping products that I purchase. That is, they must be versatile so buying this bird was not a typical purchase. However, I really like how it punches out the branch and the wing as well as the bird. You can attach the wing in many different ways as well. Also, the punch is so easy to use. I purchased a pack of kraft cardstock awhile ago but have not used it yet but it worked perfectly for this card. I have never mentioned this before but my friend Natalie and I have monthly challenges that involve using up our supplies. This month, the challenge is to use nothing but scraps on all our projects. For this card, the scrap was the patterned paper used for the bird's wing and under the bird. I believe the whisper white cardstock was scrap as well. The layout was CASED from a card found on the blog, Design with Ink. I really like all of her work. Well, until next time................... Happy Stamping, ~danita~

Heart Pouch

These heart pouches are the cutest and easiest projects to make. I used a lot of my new goodies from the Occasions mini. The DSP paper is called "Sending Love Specialty". It has one side that has glitter on it and the other side does not. But the glitter side is so thick with glitter that it feels like sand paper. I also used the the perfect polka dots embossing folder (love it), Whimsical Words stamp set (SAB), and pretty in pink satin ribbon (handle). To make the heart shaped pouch, I used the petal die and the big shot. I really like how it turned out and will be making many more.

Heart Card

Well.... it time to work on Valentine's Day cards and this is what I came up with using a little inspiration from Heather Summers. I used the movers and shapers die to cut out the heart window and card. I really like the Sending Love Specialty DSP that is in the Occasions mini catalogue. Other new items are the pretty in pink satin ribbon, Perfect Polka Dots impressions folder, and Whimsical Words stamp set. I used Simply Said to stamp and embosss the red heart that is punched out. Please forgive the photo as I am working with a new camera. On another note, my hard drive is not fixed yet but I have figured out a way to continue posting. The Day My Computer Died......................

It was a very sad day yesterday. My computer froze and when I tried to restart it, it beeped incessantly. I turned it off right away. When my dear hubby arrived home, he said that we need to take it to the store since it is still under warranty. Which is not such an easy task since we live 2.5 hours away from the closest store. I just hope that I have not lost a lot of my pictures. Although, we did back it up about 2 months ago. Anyway, I will try to post pictures of my projects from this computer that I am working on. I really hope it works. Well, I am off to create since that stops me from thinking about the hard drive. Happy Stamping, Danita

Find Your Word

For the past few years I have chosen a word of the year. It is a concept of Ali Edward's that I love. She chose a word to keep in mind all year in order to invite change in her life. You can read about it in her recent post http://aliedwards.typepad.com/_a_/2009/12/one-little-word-2010.html

As you can see from my photo above, words I have chosen are Grow, Encourage, and Nurture. And funny enough, I didn't realize Ali had chosen Nurture last year too. I am still pondering my word but so far the word "Fruitful" comes to mind. I still have a few days to mull it over. I am hoping you too will choose a word for yourself. It's not like a resolution but a statement. Choose a word that is absolutely appealing to you right now, possible something you crave or something you admire. Then once you have your word, make a project to incorporate it into your vision. Even printing it out on some favorite printed paper through the computer, stamping it out and putting it in a frame, glue it on blocks to put on a shelf.... to be reminded through the year about your word. you will be surprised how that word works it's way into your life.

Each year I do a scrapbooking layout that I have in a wooden frame on the wall above my desk. I use my 'word' as the title with the year and add 4 creative resolutions to it. It is there to remind me of the creative goals I set. Some examples over the years are:

-read my camera manual

-hand make all greeting cards

-hand make all christmas gifts

-learn a new art skill

-read books to feed my soul and find inspiration

-write actual letters to encourage friendships

-fully organize my craft space (including painting it! some may remember my red walk in closet/scrap"room")

So challenge yourself this year. Set even 3 creative goals to feed your soul. Creative resolutions are often easier to keep because they nurture our souls and don't demand deep hardships (like committing to go to the gym regularly, lol). I find creative resolutions help restore me and refresh my person. It's easy to get lost in our busy lives and forget to fill our tanks. You may not consider your self a "crafty" person but don't ever underestimate the benefits of learning. It's the process that works the muscles and bears fruit!

I was doing some wrapping and I purchased a never ending roll of paper Costso 2 years ago. It's like a living roll that grows several meters each month under my stairs throughout the year. I decided not to buy NEW wrapping paper until I finish this crazy roll. Hmm... wise decision? While wrapping this year I couldn't help looking arround the room for other things I could use. That's when the old Dr. Suess books called to me. I have a stack of old beat up childrens books I use to make cards with occasionally but by taking out a few pages and glueing them together to make a larger sheet, I found another life for them. Add some SU! ribbon and a home made tag and I think it has a whole new adorable life sitting under the tree!

So! Keep your eye out at thrift stores, garage sales, grandparents "hand me downs", used book shops, or your own home library for books that need a new cuter life! Happy preparations everyone, tania

Teacher's Christmas Gifts

This Christmas, I made 3 teacher's gifts for my children's teachers. I used the Smore box that I made in June but decided to put something different in it. I was going to put hot chocolate, marshmallows, and candy canes in but then I found out that the teachers liked tea so it became a London Fog Box. I put vanilla syrup, Earl Grey tea bags, recipe card for London Fog and one Snickerdoodle cookie in the boxes. The teachers loved them!

Rustic Cookie Bag

I am a strong advocate for the 3R's, reduce, reuse and recycle. I have been recycling now for close to 15 years. More recently, I have been working towards reducing and reusing which brings me to my next project. Last night was my 4 year old son's Christmas concert. They handed out goodies in paper lunch bags. I would usually put these bags in my recycling bins but I needed a container to put cookies in for a gift. I cut the paper bag down to 6 inches and scalloped the edges. Then I finished decorating the bag. The cookies are for my 7 year old's school bus driver. I wanted to show her my appreciation for getting my daughter to and from school every day safely. I will also be giving a similar gift to my garbage man. Garbage day is Tuesday so I will post what his gift looks like as well. I got the idea for the bag from Lolly at lollychops.com. Another Gift Card Holder

Yes, another gift card holder but this one is the easiest one so far. I made one for each of my brother inlaws who are both doing home renovations so why not a Home Depot gift card! I know that I am safe showing their gifts here since either one of them are stampers :). I went into my scraps bin and pulled out two pieces of 4 x11 Chocolate Chip paper and a few pieces of retired Designer Series Paper. I used chocolate chip satin ribbon for the belly band. Yes, that is what you call the piece that goes around the card to keep it together. I wish there was a different name for it because I always think of maternity pants when I hear the word, "belly band."

Guy gifts...challenging?

I was pondering what to do for today's post and started snooping through this little stack of papers from an old paper swap. I wanted to do something with current product to be a bit more helpful to those who are SU! girls. THIS paper I never thought I'd do anything with. It didn't inspire me at all upon arrival in the bundle. Yet, here it turned out to be a great little idea for those of you with card sharks on your list! Throw in a small stash of loonies and twoonies and a bag of chocolate poker chips and you are golden! Maybe even a scratch &win. The pictures loaded backwards so hang in there with me. This is the poker chip tag made for the recipient's name. Just snipped some scrap red and glued it down. Trim and add the 1"circle.

I ended up coloring over the words "CRAZY EIGHTS" with my white gel pen before attaching the ribbon because you could see the words through the curry ribbon. And really, how manly is the game crazy eights?

To make the box, take 2 (6x6) squares. Trim the paper you wish to use for the bottom of the box by 1/16" on TWO SIDES ONLY. This allows the top to slide on perfectly. Score each side at 1" all the way around on both squares. Clip in 2 ends on one and 2 sides on the other to help keep the flaps on opposite walls. This also helps achieve an easy fit. Fold in tabs and glue or tape. This formula of the base 1/16" smaller than the top can be used for any size custom box you want to make as long as you score all your wall sides evenly!

I hope you are enjoying the process of creating for the holiday season. If it's stressfull, make a note in your new calendar now: Start making gifts earlier! Set a start date to brain storm your list. Set a startdate to start making gifts. I begin very early so I can take my time. And even more helpful is setting a date to be wrapped by! Mine is in November so that I can really enjoy the holiday season and all it's events. Sounds crazy but it is SO nice in December!

Here is my 'Small World Inspired' card. It's a 3x3 so I am going to use it for my Mother's gifttag. Having SU!'s little 3x3 love note size cards on hand is always good for a quick little fix. Winter white embossed greeting from a Sale-a-bration set I got last year. Speaking of Sale-a-bration...it's coming!!!! I love Sale-a-bration, and really, who doesn't like free stamps. Honestly. Oh, yes, sorry, faux stitching done with my gel pen. Snowflakes cut out with my Big Shot! Have a happy saturday! I can tell it's the Christmas season shen I eat shortbread for breakfast, sigh. I am weak against the power of cookies lol. -tania

I have been away to Disneyland and hoped I would have gotten online there, but no. We were cocoa drinking, churro eating, coaster riding, Goofy hugging fiends last week! It was SO fun. I was riding though 'It's A Small World' and saw this tree that made me think it would make good inspiration for a card or project! Tag Time

I need to get all my gift tags completed in the next week so I can mail out my gifts. Here is what I have come up with so far. The top note tag uses non traditional colours of pale plum and rich razzleberry. My 7 year old daughter absolutely loves this colour combo. The other two tags were inspired by Angie Kennedy Juda at Chic n Scratch. I really like being able to use up my scraps for the smaller tags. Gift Card Holders

It is now down to crunch time to finish all my gifts. Personally, I really enjoy giving and receiving gift cards. Family lives far away so it saves us a lot on shipping but I also make a few gifts as well to personalize the gift giving. I like receiving gift cards as well because you can get exactly what you want (size and colour).

The first two gift holders are made using the big shot and two different dies (scallop square and top note). The third one is made using cardstock measuring 4.25 x 11. It is quite easy after doing it a few times.

Well, I am off to my stamp room to finish up making a few tag samples for tomorrow. Tania is away on holdiays so she won't be posting tomorrow.

Where Have I Been?

Where have I been? Well....I have been busy making Christmas gifts and I promise that I will share them with you soon. One of the gifts that I am working on are Cowgirl Cookies in a jar. I will be decorating the jar before I pack it up but I wanted to show you the cookies before and after cooking. I must say that these are the yummiest cookies that I have eaten so far. I usually take pictures during the day since they look better but I had take this before the cookies were eaten up. Tag Time

I'm dreaming of a GREEN Christmas...sort of. I have been working on handmade gifts for sometime now. I have made it a goal to use as much of my materials on hand as possible. Fabric, papers, wooden items, glass, yarns.... I have a crafting problem. There were very few things I needed to purchase to complete my project list. So when Danita came up in the summer and did a workshop for me I picked those things up. That's where the 'sort of' came from. I knew I wanted to do tags this week as I am in the wrapping stage. It seemed a good challenge to 'use my stash' and make tags this week! I appologise if you are expecting all SU! products. I have a few patterned papers and embellishments that are other sources. It's about using what I had (and making it cute lol). The candy canes are make from a cookie cutter set my sweet husband had put in my stocking last year. Gotta love the multi-platform for the Big Shot! I used the Woodgrain Background stamp to make my striped cardstock. The lace trim edge I dragged in Whisper White craft ink and heat set. The jingle bells are cut from the same cookie cutter set in felt (LOVE doing that, yeah Big Shot again). I masked the wording stamp into that label stamp.

Danita may laugh at my use of the pom-pom trim she gave me. I like how these tags turned out. The old Cold Play set is still one of my favorites. The carrot nose is made from stickles. I plan on using a small alphabet set to stamp the recipients name on the snowman's belly in Basic Grey.

These tags are patterned paper glued to Garden Green cardstock and run through with the Top Note die. I masked the image in the label stamp as well. I am using chipboard letters to monogram these ones. I had added stickles to the 'B' to bling it up a bit. You can do the same with Crystal Effects and Dazzling Diamonds!

Happy holiday preparing to you! I hope you will try to use what you can this Christmas to be a little greener. This generally means you get new treats if you are addicted to creating like me! Gift Drawer

Where have I been? Well.....our family was quite sick with a cold. In fact, my four year old son had a middle ear infection with his ear leaking fluid like a leaky tap. Then, my seven year old daughter had such a sore throat and bad cough that her ear was hurting. She has ruptured her ear drum before so I took her to the doctor so it would not happen again. After that, it was my turn to get a cold and I felt completely exhausted so I was not creating. Now, we are all healthy and it is time to kick it in high gear to start making our Christmas gifts. We have try to have a handmade Christmas as much as possible so I am hoping to post some of my projects in the next few weeks.

Today, I am going to share with you a project that I might give as a teacher's gift. I am having a packaging class this Saturday and one of the projects is this cute gift drawer. You could fill it up with the person's favourite goodies. It could be give to a teacher as a Christmas gift that sits on the teacher's desk. Have you started on your teacher gifts yet?

why cards?

I often make cards for birthdays and usually try to make our Christmas cards. I have made cards for Easter, Thankgiving, Valentines and even the occasional St. Patrick's Day. I was thinking tonight about what I wanted to make to post. I had this card design I made a few weeks ago and I really liked it but it needed tweaking. So I started to play with a new version. The original one had the greeting 'PEACE' on it and an acetate layer to enhance the snow. But this version unfolded with texture in the back ground and even more importantly, purpose.

I have a friend who has had a whopper of a 2009 and I am giving this to her to let her know that, i care. When everything seems pointless, or repetitive, or like it's actually moving towards something good...i care. Sometimes when we go through something that takes MUCH longer than we'd like it to, we can stop letting people in because WE are sick to the teeth of talking about it. But dear friends still care about our stuggles. They may not know what to say anymore either.

Sometimes very few words can fill an empty space. Sometimes a simple paper gesture is how you communicate a hug. Handmade often begins in the heart and moves outward to someone else. I challenge you to make a card for a friend who may need to hear that you care. That someone still cares. -tania

Pleated Ribbon Card

I know. I know that I said that I would post this card tomorrow but I could not wait to show you. My challenge to use ribbon all month has begun and if I have to use ribbon on every project that I complete then I have to figure different ways to use it. The ribbon on this card is pleated and I really like the way it looks. The picture does not show it but the flowers are coloured with bashful blue and pacific point. It looks like I need to work on my lighting when taking pictures.

The set that I used to stamp the sentiment was once a wheel that I cut apart and made 13 stamps from. The wheel is called Friendly Words. I have also cut the wheel, "Neighbourhood" apart as well and now I am eyeing the wheel "Bright Blessings" to cut apart as well. It would make a great new Thanksgiving and Christmas set. Hmmmm......the possibilities.

Stenciled Christmas Card

Hello everyone. Wow....two consecutive days of posting. I am on a roll and plan to continue rolling out projects for all of you to see. Today I am busy working on a couple of stamping club projects but I thought that I would share another Christmas card with you. Stampin' Up sells stencils so I bought one for myself but it has not arrived yet so I improvised. I punched out the ornament punch which is found in the Holiday Mini Catty and used it as a template.

Joy Christmas Card

Sorry for my long absence. I was crazy busy with a local fundraiser, classes, birthday parties and club nights. I was exhausted and had lost my stamping mojo. Well, I am back with a card that I did for my stamp-a-stack that I had this past weekend. It is an Andrea Walford inspired card. I used patterned paper under a clear button for the "0" instead of stamping it. You could also use a white grommet with the patterned paper as well. See you soon.

I recently celebrated World Card Making Day at Splitcoaststampers and it was a blast! One of the challenges put out was to make a christmas ornament. I all ready knew I wanted to to something with my Big Shot Pillow Die so I made these little scalloped pillows. Real Red & Old Olive CS, Deer Friends set on Confetti Cream CS, and the new twill ribbon from this year's mini! Pillow Box Cup

Isn't it cute! I used the tutorial on Splitcoaststampers and watched the video at the bottom of the page done by Beate Johns to create this Hot Chocolate Cup(http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/pillowboxbucket/). Hmmmm....I am thinking that this would make a great teacher's gift. What do you think? I changed the dimensions of the handle by making it wider to 1 inch instead of 3/4 inches. I also pushed the handle into the slotted holes until it looked just right. You cannot see it but I also texturized the handle using the petals-a-plenty embosssing folder from the Holiday Mini Catty. On another note, I am rearranging my stamp room again so that it is completely functional. Once that is done, I will post pictures. Have a great weekend. Danita

Christms Elf Tag

Well, I have to admit that I have been working on Christmas projects for a little while now. I made this cute little guy for a stamping workshop. I do workshops, birthday parties, stamping clubs and participate in fundraisers. Back to the elf. He was really easy to make. I used the Scallop Circle Die and many different punches to make the elf.

Teacher's Gifts

At the beginning of every school year, I like to give my children's teachers a little gift to start off the year. It is my way of saying that I appreciate them and what they do. Teachers have a very important and difficult job. I am a very practical person so I give consumable gifts. Here are the two teacher gifts that I made.

I put thumb tacks, magnets, paperclips and chocolate in the different boxes. A mini sharpie was placed on the outside since it would not fit inside.

Bad Blogger

I must apologize for being a bad blogger. It has been one thing after another and now it is time that I start blogging again. Thanks to my dear friend for reminding me that I have a blog. You know who you are. So what have I been up to? I went to visit with a friend who lives in the most beautiful place in the Cariboo. Loved it. I participated in a card swap in which I made 62 cards. Wow! That sure was a lot of cards. I will be posting some of those in the next few days. What else? I officially opened my stamp room in my house. I must say that it is absolutely wonderful. I am still organizing and I will show pics of that as well. Then, school started back for my childern and I am finally in the groove. Also, there was our local fall fair that I participated in. I am now busy with my stamping clubs, workshops and birthday parties.

I met with my stamping club ladies during the first week of September and gave each of them a little gift. I think I still have one here waiting. I made 10 of these matchboxes and tried to put each of their favourite candies in them. I liked how they turned out. Have a great day and happy stamping.

Second Swap Card

Sorry for being away for a little bit. I have been working on my swap cards and I finally came up with another card. The swap that I am participating in involves using the new Stampin' Up in colors as the prominent colour (Canadian spelling). I selected Rich Razzleberry and Soft Suede for the swap. Do you ever have a sketch in your head but cannot seem to execute the way you see it in your head? Well, that is what was happening with me until a friend came over today to stamp with me. It always helps to get a second opinion. So what do you think of my Thanksgiving (Soft Suede) card?

Baby Gift

Last night, I attended a baby shower for a friend of mine whose son was born July 1. He will always have a party for his birthday since he was born on Canada Day. Oh yes, back to the gift. The new mom requested recycled, handmade or organic as gifts. The main outfit was recycled and I had made the card awhile ago but I wanted to try stamping on a onsie and then embroidered over the image. I really enjoyed doing this and I am going to try it again soon.

Below the plane, it says, " Welcome Baby." It looks much better in real life.

Well, I need to get this post done as the power is to be shut off. There is a wildfire near the power lines so the power might be shut off so they can fight the fire better.

Matchbox Birthday Present

Cute isn't it? Surprising just how this gift came about. At 8:15 this morning, I get a phone call from one of my daughter's friend's mother. She is inviting us to a birthday party that day at 4 pm. Today was a Civic Holiday here in Canada but stores are open but I challenged myself to make a gift with what I had on hand. I have a "little" gift box stashed away for such occasions as this. Believe me, I have had many "surprise" parties so it has become neccessary.I used the matchbox die from Stampin' Up to make three individual boxes and the sleeves that go with them. I am really loving the Big Shot these days. My four old son had an emergency during the adhesion process so it looks slightly off. Tombow was not exactly very forgiving. Included in each of the sleeves are little gifts. The first sleeve has a pair of barettes using the Fleurettes I from last year's catalogue. The second drawer holds 3 lip smackers. Every little girl loves to put these on and in the last drawer is a bag of skittles.

I am going to make another one when I am not feeling so rushed. Until next time.....

Masculine Card

Today was my hubby's birthday so I decided to experiment a little bit. What I really needed for this was Always Artichoke cardstock but I did not have any. Argh! Oh well, so I imporvised and came up with this card. I got the inspiration from a card Michelle Wooderson posted on her blog awhile ago. Each of my kids made a card for their dad as well.

Hello Little Baby

Wedding Card

I must first apologize for not blogging lately. The end of school came and with it came a house full of family. Our families really wanted to come out and see our new house that my husband built. I have been working on few projects during these last few days. I am getting ready for the end of the school year and I am starting to feel more inspired to create. It must be this beautiful weather that we have been having. I have been a fan of Becky Roberts work for sometime. Here is the link to her blog http://www.inkingidaho.blogspot.com/. I CASED (copy and share with everyone) this project from Kelly Robinson. Since it was my first time trying it, I used the same materials. I loved it so much that I will be making more of these using different papers. It is a little smore kit for my daughter's teacher. I always like to give teachers consumables.
